Once all the rooms were seemingly empty around me, room housekeeping services stopped coming as well. Had to contact the front desk to bring me a new key. Went to get ice around 6pm and came right back to find my room lock had been deactivated. Not a comforting position for a woman who's now in a room alone as the family had flown home mid stay. All the other room doors up and down the hall were propped open, and there were construction workers all around. There were construction materials and carts clogging up the walkway, had to step over boxes of flooring and supplies to walk in the hallways while workers just stared at you doing it. The last night it was clear the construction was moving down to our floor and I was one of only 2 guest rooms left occupied on the floor for our wing of the hotel. GWL has to use their own security to stop their own renovations and it takes HOURS to do so at night? Ridiculous. Called the front desk multiple times to report the noise issue, and was eventually told "security had been dispatched to make workers stop". Heard noise all day long, no big deal and understandable, but then it was 7pm, and then 8pm, and then 9pm and we're still hearing major construction noise directly above our room which was keeping my daughter from being able to sleep. The floor above ours was apparently undergoing renovation. Would have been nice to have a pool to go relax in at night after the conference. After 8pm there is no pool to swim at anywhere on property, which is funny considering you could be swimming in the evening at literally any other nearby hotel with a pool, but that's not possible at a water park themed hotel. It's ridiculous the outdoor pool and activities are totally closed for the season so early in September in Texas where it's still 90+ degrees outside daily.

The waterpark was crazy over crowded and dirty, food and trash all over the place, soggy pizza boxes in walkways. They finally came and fixed the issue, then we had to keep waiting for maid service who came very late in the day. Came back to the room the next afternoon after being out, the bed was still broken so had to call and wait again for maintenance. They said they'd schedule a fix at 10am the next day. Around 11pm called to say we were going to bed and don't send anyone up until tomorrow. Contacted the front desk, said they'd send maintenance, but no one ever came. Checked in to find one bed on a broken frame, bed was falling over. Stayed here for a conference and brought my family along for the waterpark. My recommendation is to do a day-pass for the park and stay there only if you're too far away for any other option with the kids. He was very helpful and super nice - I wish I could recall his name. I had large rollerbags as I was bringing in display items for the conference and the carpet is so thick you really can't roll your bags. The best part was the absolurtely wonderful bellman who helped us take our bags to the room. The turkey and avacado sandwich from the restaurant in the indoor waterpark area was really good. That didn't get to happen. There were some bright spots: The staff that cleans rooms were always very pleasant and greeted you as you passed in the hall. I did not have an interest in using the indoor waterpark, but I did bring a bathing suit to enjoy the outdoor pool.

We checked in Sunday and left on Thursday. That explains the rust - clearly something that's been going on for a while. I thought that was kind of strange until one day during my shower it began to steadily drip cold water onto me. Above the area where you stand to shower there was a metal access panel that was rusted along the edges. We did get extra full-size towels, but didn't have a hand towel at all during our stay. Additionally, the room wasn't clean on arrival (soap splatter on the sink faucet, crumbs on the floor). So glad I could provide them with a loan from my credit card company. Imagine $100 per day per room depostited in short-term interest-earning accounts for up to ten days.

I asked if that would be released when I checked out and they said it would take 5-10 business days.

They put a $100/day charge on your credit card at checkin. Third, why on earth would you deactivate room keys because hotel staff didn't scan a credit card that you already have on file? I learned why at checkout. Second, I gave them the card at checkin - and if I hadn't presented it - it was THEIR responsiblity to ask for it. They deactivated our room keys!!! First, they clearly must retain credit card info since they insist you check in with the same card. One of the ladies in my party ran up to the room on a break and couldn't get in. Three days into the conference I received a text message while I was in class saying they didn't have my credit card info on file. As required, I presented the same credit card I used for my room deposit (you're given this message more than once).
